Extraction and Isolation Procedures

Results & Discussion:

　　Anoectochilus formosanus(台灣金線連, AF ), an indigenous and precious medicinal herb of taiwan, is popularly used in traditional medicine. But in the past, there are very limited studies about AF. It is also surprising that AF is very expensive. In order to prove the effect of AF, our lab decided to go deep into studing it.
　　 First we used many assays to check AF(hot water extract)'s ability to antioxidant, but it's useless.
　　Second we imitated the situation in our body, we hydrolyized the herb's extract by acid HCl to cut off glucoside on flavonoids. We found the acid hydrolyized(AH-BuOH) AF had surpirising significant inhibition in every antioxidant assays(Fig1. Fig2. Fig3 and Fig4).

　　In vitro assays we have proved that AF has the ability to inhibit ROS. But we still unknown what is real situation in vivo. In advance, we hope to use living organisms to prove AF's efficiency.
