Flavonoid glucosidase will influence the effect of antioxidant

¡@¡@ Flavonoids have been well recognized to act as antioxidants by scavenging oxygen radials. But existing flavonoids mainly exist in the form of glycoside. It is suggested that glucosidase found in human fecal and salivary cultures and intestinal bacteria can liberate the sugar moiety from flavonoid glycoside resulting in flavonoid aglycone.
¡@¡@Does it have any difference between flavonoid aglycone and flavonoid glucoside? Studies use quercetin, a popular flavonoid, and quercetin monoglycoside to run several antioxidant assays. Then, they found antioxidative effect of quercetin is much higner than that of quercetin glucoside in solution.
¡@¡@Thus, we can suggest that in our body system, what we absorbed is flavonoid without glucoside. The effect of our herb in body also depends on herb's extract cutting off glucoside.
