Hydrogen bonds are formed between Arg and Gln inside the superhelix layer. The H-bond framework stablizes the the helix-bundle structure and prevent it from hydrolysis by water-tight sealing. It thus shields the ionic interactions from the surrounding solvent.
There is a hydrophobic pocket formed by vesicle (v)-SNARE, synaptobrevin, and the N-terminal end of SNAP sn2 folds back and interact with this hydrophobic groove for further stablization.
